Job Introduction
Pinnacle Group is looking for a dedicated & experienced School Cleaning Supervisor (Facilities Assistant) to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene at one of our contracted primary schools. You will be joining our Total FM Team based at Rufford Park Primary School, Yeadon LS19.
Our Total Facilities Management team delivers integrated asset management and maintenance services across education, leisure, corporate, health and residential sectors. We focus on keeping facilities running smoothly, safely, and efficiently – helping our clients create spaces that work for everyone.
You will be responsible to support the safe, secure, and effective operation of the school site by assisting the Superintendent in the day‑to‑day delivery of cleaning and facilities services. You will undertake a hands‑on supervisory role, working alongside the cleaning team to ensure service standards and contractual requirements are met.
This is a Permanent Role of 22 ½ hours per week – you will be working Monday to Friday 2.30pm to 7pm term time with the addition of overtime available to cover out-of-hours activities, holidays and sickness cover. Non-term time hours are to be worked throughout the day

Key responsibilities will include:
Service Delivery & Supervision
- Monitor, record, and support the delivery of cleaning services in line with contractual requirements, liaising with the client as necessary and escalating issues appropriately.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and on-the-job training to cleaning staff, working alongside the team to ensure cleaning schedules are adhered to and performance targets are achieved.
- Support the induction of cleaning staff, contractors, and visitors, including explaining site rules and emergency procedures as required.
- Assist the Superintendent in ensuring cleaning standards are maintained across the site at all times.
Staffing, Rotas & Attendance
- Coordinate cleaning rotas to ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained, including arranging suitable short-term cover for sickness and holidays.
- Monitor staff attendance and maintain accurate records to support the effective management of absence, reporting concerns to the Superintendent.
- Act as a first point of contact for cleaning staff during shifts, escalating issues in line with site procedures.
Stock, Equipment & Resources
- Monitor cleaning product stock levels in liaison with the Superintendent, ensuring adequate supplies are available at all times.
- Report the need for new or replacement equipment to the Superintendent and support the effective use and care of equipment on site.
- Report faults with equipment or the fabric of the building via the helpdesk, to the line manager, or undertake minor repairs where appropriate in line with personal skills and training.
Site Supervision, Safety & Security
- Supervise the site during operational hours and respond to incidents in accordance with established procedures, escalating as required.
- Maintain the security of the school premises by securing entrances and exits where appropriate and reporting any breaches of security.
- Ensure lights and equipment are switched off where possible to support energy efficiency and sustainability.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Work in accordance with all Health & Safety legislation, COSHH regulations, and company policies to ensure a safe and healthy environment for staff, pupils, visitors, and contractors.
- Undertake duties involving substances controlled under COSHH regulations, in line with training and risk assessments.
- Carry out manual handling tasks in accordance with training and safe systems of work.
Reactive & Additional Duties
- Undertake emergency, reactive, and daily cleaning duties as required to maintain site standards. Assist with the winter gritting programme as required.
- Support site cover during out-of-hours use of the school, where necessary.
- Work at other Pinnacle schools when required, with adequate and reasonable notice
Key requirements will include:
- Experience of working within a cleaning, facilities, or site-based role, ideally in a school or similar operational environment.
- Experience in providing day-to-day supervision or coordination of staff, including allocating tasks and supporting teams to meet service standards.
- Working knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, materials, and safe systems of work.
- Basic understanding of Health & Safety requirements, including COSHH regulations and manual handling.
- Ability to follow established procedures and escalate issues appropriately to the Superintendent or line management.
- Experience in coordinating rotas and supporting attendance monitoring is desirable.
- Awareness of the importance of site security and compliance within a school environment. Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities within a school setting, including the duty to remain vigilant, follow safeguarding procedures, and report any concerns in line with school and company policy.
- Ability to communicate effectively with staff, contractors, and school representatives in a professional manner.
- A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively to reactive situations.
- To meet the child safeguarding regulations, the appointment to this role will be subject to completion of an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS Check) & checkable Work References.
